About Chris LenckiA lifelong Torontonian, Chris holds an ARCT in Piano Performance (Royal Conservatory of Music), a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (University of Toronto) and a Master of Arts in Musicology and Ethnomusicology (York University) with a particular interest in post-1900 Western Classical music, the musics of Africa and the African diaspora and Indian Classical music. Chris studied Piano with Sadie Squires, Gordon Hallett, William Aide and Andrew Markow, Indian drumming (tabla) with Pandit Sharda Sahai and Composition with Samuel Dolin. Chris taught both private and group class piano for 13 years before joining the Piano and Theory faculties of the Royal Conservatory of Music in 1991, and continues to teach privately. He is also a senior examiner in both Piano and Theory for the Royal Conservatory College of Examiners, and a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association. In addition to his musical activities, he is a practitioner and instructor of Tai Chi through the auspices of the Taoist Tai Chi Society.
